I.S.S. ASSEMBLY MILESTONES
Notes:
The FGB “Zarya” module (center) was successfully launched in November 1998, followed by the American “Unity” node module (right) in December. The $900-million Russian “Zvezda” Service Module (left) was finally launched in July 2000, almost three years behind schedule. The first crew to inhabit the International Space Station will be launched from Russia in November 2000.
If all goes according to plan, the International Space Station will look like this in January 2001 when the US “Destiny” laboratory module (left) is attached to the complex. Before this, two visiting Shuttle crews will deliver more solar panels (top) and additional equipment.
